if you have autism, would you like a few free coaching sessions?!

Hi there.

My name is Gavin and I am starting to do some coaching sessions with young people in school, etc. The reason I said about free coaching is that I am particularly interested in working with people who have autism, or who have learning issues. I have read a lot about how chess can help with people on the spectrum. Also, I have 2 nephews who have autism, so it is in the family too. If you would like a brief chat about this, let me know. Thanks a lot. Gavin

I have high functioning autism. And yes I agree a lot on what you said, I started at 15. Love chess a lot. I would even help other kids too. I do help when people are struggling to know answers. I was surprised. You had this posted. I did had a lot of incidents when I was in school. I’m 41 right now. And I am a teacher myself for chess. I would even have the patience teach toddlers if they wanted to learn. It’s been tough on me tho. Chess does help with people with autism. You have questions ask me for anything in history. My rating is around 1800 in USCF. But I do not give up. Study tactics. That’s on my top priority. In school I was called names which wasn’t good. I do excel in this game.  I was told not to give up. I would be happy to help others too. I taught my cousin, my neighbor, people that love chess. Most of them moved on sadly. But honestly I am on the spectrum. And I do go to a facility for people with disabilities. and you can see on my profile what I do. Sportsmanship and everything matters. And also In rl. I usually don’t see people like chess where I live. I’m a rare breed. And I’m not afraid of playing and teaching others. I hardly post anything in the forums. But your one of the fewest I’ve saw got my attention. I don’t want to be coached really. I am a teacher of this game myself. I love this forum. I did even play Daniel Naroditsky. Played him 3 times in a casual game watching the movie that came out. Have a good day to you. Thank you

Hi there. And thanks for your message. Sounds loike you can certainly help people, and do help people!. I am sorry to hear about being called names at schools, but those people have big problems themselves, and may end up being losers of a kind. My brother has undiagnosed autism and his 2 kids are on the spectrum. (I have some ADD symptoms). But i strongly feel that no matter what we might struggle with, it is really whats in our heart that matters. And the right people will know that. And yes, as you say, "I am a teacher of this game...", which is great. Have a wonderful day too. And thanks again for getting back to me. Best of luck with everything. And many blessings. Gavin

Im a high functional autistic person (level 1) and a passionate for the game, im 1100 rated in rapid and 900 in blitz (wich i play the most), id love to have a lesson with you sir, never got a lecture in my life, only self-taught. I do teach my friend whos about the same rating now as i am (he started with 400 elo), but only superficial themes and some things i learn in the internet. thank you so much for your time and good heart to teach people like me, its truly heartwarming.
