Blitz will improve.
Improving at Blitz

study what?
probably more positional themes.
The best blitz players in the chess world are also the best classical time control players and this is no coincidence (although some naturally play better in one format versus the other). If you spend half an hour on one position and still can't find the winning idea, then you aren't too likely to find the idea given more time; the same applies to blitz, on another scale: if you don't see the plan in a minute or so, then you could let the entire clock run (if it hasn't already with blitz ) and you still may not find it. For this reason, blitz is even more based on pattern recognition than slower chess. At least with slower OTB games, you can spend time calculating long alternatives or navigate unknown openings. In blitz, you usually only have a few seconds to spare!
The irony is that to excel at blitz, I would recommend improving longer time control chess. Study more positional concepts like pawn structures, square and color complex weaknesses, and themes like overloading (although the last example is usually seen as a tactical motif, it is sometimes positional in nature).
Hey.
So I've been playing Blitz on the site a long time now
I topped out at 1600 for a couple years but then started practicing tacticts seriously and managed to climb to a peak of almost 1900! (Although I'm in a definite slump right now)
I'm looking for advice on what to do in order to push past the 1900 ceiling.
Thank you in advance, I hope all is well as can be with you out there during this difficult time.
