Well if your losing because you miss forks and stuff like that it might be better to do some tactical exercises. That way you'll really improve rapidly.

Thanks a lot, I desperately needed a site like that! =D

...Should I continue to play against 1000+ players, or should I beat a bunch of 800-900 players until my rating is about 1000 and then play against 1000+ players?
I would suggest, playing 1000+ players. This will give u experience; I feel the only way 2 get better, is 2 play those who r better. I recently wrote about the same thing, n my post: Do We Play Better According 2 Our competition.
SZ.

Another idea is to keep playing up (stronger players, ratings-wise relative to you) until you are winning no more than 60% of your games. (adjust your choice of opponents to track this number).
This ensures that you are constantly being challenged and at the same time, have enough practice winning won games (which is a grossly underrated skill among relatively new players)
I don't really care about my rating, I just want to become a better chess player. I tend to play against 1100-1200 players, and I play equally with them until I fail to see a double fork and they earn a free rook or something. When I play against 800-900 players, I win comfortably (I'm 800+). Should I continue to play against 1000+ players, or should I beat a bunch of 800-900 players until my rating is about 1000 and then play against 1000+ players?
