In a forum, how do I quote someone?

The grey box is the only quote feature on chess.com.
I make the green box by print-screening my screen to my clipboard (just press the button on your keyboard) so when I open Microsoft paint I paste with the ctrl+v command. Paint lets me do stuff like draw green boxes and add text.
At the top of the message box is a mostly green button (small picture of a tree). You can click that to insert and image into your post, which is what I use to insert the edited image with the green box. To insert a chess game or diagram click the icon next to it (the one that looks like a chessboard heh).

I'll be making a lot of those when I have the time!
Everyone spam me with spam messages to remind me!!

Or, if I have even more time (the next one and a half months are school holidays) I might even make some of each which you have suggested, wafflemaster!
Are you good at making waffles, wafflemaster? They're one of my favorite types of food!

When I use the quote feature with my iPad, the shaded box doesn't appear. I've started using a line of tildes to make posts more easily readable whenever I quote with my iPad.

And how do you make those (green box)? (I'm slightly new to chess.com forums, or any other forums)
Leave it for the time being. It is not a chess.com feature.

dat quotin things all a bit pointless... if u quot sumone they stil hav to fish the forum 4 ur mesage and wont no dat its them uv quoted only dat the topics bin updating.

Quoted game positions has never worked for me regardless of browser - I always just see a rotating icon saying "loading...." - not awful, I can go back to the quoted post and see the board position. Chess.com says they are working on it.
Happens with me, too, so I usually type the post # and refer to the positions on the board.
Now, if posts get deleted...
