I have played players from many countries, but never one from Russia. Coincidence? Hmmmmm..... I have my opinions and from now and until Ukraine is free I will not play players with international flag.

You have 4 in the first five pages of your archive and have the passport from playing at least one member with Russia as their selected location.

I have played players with the international flag not knowing what it was. And as I said I will not do it again. I have never seen the flag of the Russian Federation. I might have and not noticed. Will not play them anymore neither. Please add link to the names of the players I have played from the Russian Federation.

You have played members from Russia (blue with no symbols that is a link to the Ukraine blog posted by the site). You haven't seen the Russian flag because if that replacement.

There is NO "citizen" of the world - Citizen = a legally recognized subject or national of a state or commonwealth, either native or naturalized.  I understand what you think you mean

I use the international flag because I'm an immigrant. I'm from Russia but I've spent from when is was 4 to now in the U.S., so 10 years. I consider both home because one is my actual national identity and culture while the other is where I've made a lot of my memories and friends. Both are equally important to me, so I don't choose between them. I just thought that international was for immigrants.

Not playing chess against someone in the Russian government is understandable, but denying a Russian citizen an opportunity to play a simple game of chess is stupid, it wasn't their choice, or mine. It was the government.

I do not think that it is if they do anything live, a friend of mine in Middle school has an international flag, so I am guessing that is has to do with something that Chess.com can't locate your country through I.P or your device, or chess.com has that as an option and I can't find it.

I probably look dumb in this thread

Leaving now. happy.png

The site may give a default location but players get to choose what they want.

Doubt it, it automatically gave me U.S.A but I changed mine to the EU

I keep up with a results log by many terms including by country. When i play vs International i jus type it in as vs USA. Becuase its the likeliest country we have people wear a bag on thier head to admit we are from haha. But the server doesnt like politics so i will keep mouth shut. 😬

I just worked out that there is an international flag, and have switched mine over. I don't mind people knowing that I am in Australia, but I prefer not to display the Australian national flag because for me it is a symbol of ongoing colonial dispossession, violence and racism. Ideally I would l like the option to display the text "Australia" rather than the national flag, however the international flag is also a good option.
Edit: Have achieved what I wanted by setting my location to "Australia" and leaving country as "International"

It can actually happen that you play against a russian even if the member has a flag of almoust any other country. So if your point is to avoid playing against russians (who are generally good at chess) then you should not play online chess at all. You never know who is there, behind another but not Russian Federation's flag. And if you want to be political here than there are many other countries that you should exclude from your list. And if you are too selective you are going to end up playing against a couple of norwegians.

I think he is saying that chess.com is not allowing him to play against Russians.
