Insults in the chat

Yeah, but if you call them a great player + a plethora of compliments and casually mention that they were kinda rude, they will be more hesitant to remove it from their page. also they might stop behaving that way. kill with kindness.

I mean, you are already insulting yourself in your own name, calling yourself a bum
Hmmmm… yeah … that's true

I would trash talk anyone if they started it.

Wait a minute! Are you trying to tell me that saying nasty stuff in the chat is somehow improper? That some players actually frown upon that kind of stuff? I thought that was the whole point of the stupid function: to hurl insults and expletives at your opponent. In fact, I thought 'chat' in this context was just a euphemism for 'trash talk'. Man, I gotta' rethink this whole situation.......
lol

Yeah that's what I thought at first (with my first account when I was 12 which was 5 years ago. I made it with my school email which got deleted so I had to make a new one) and did engage. but it seemed to be looked down upon so I was like alright every time me ego is hurt I'll dismiss is as he isn't obeying rules. Don't the American "let me talk to the manager" type of attitude stop a good banter.

Just had someone call me a douchbag..... thanks, my game must be improving....
must be

I don't mind insults in chess chat or most other contexts, because it means that my adversary is feeling comfortable enough to approach me and troll me. This saves me the effort of approaching him. Do you think the cat minds being insulted by the pigeon?

Today I played a blitz game where I hung a bishop, I had my rook but was a piece down. He asked me "are you dumb" when I didn't resign right away. I didn't respond appropriately and called him an a** hole (I did censor it). he called me names as the game went on. This is a very minor thing and happens a lot. But I was wondering, do you partake in the insults? how do you react? afterward I sent him a friend request and told him he's a great player. I used to be pretty aggressive when I was a little younger so I get it.
Being anonymous can do things to people. As long as you realize they act differently online, as opposed to how they act in person explains it all.

What about 'fathead'? Can I call someone a 'fathead' in the chat? I mean, actually, the human brain is mostly made up of fat. About 60%, I believe. So in one sense, the term is biologically correct. But maybe not politically correct. Any fatheads out there care to argue the point?
I don't think someone would see it as a biologically interesting fact, but I thought it actually contained more water? Surely you can't call someone a "Waterhead"?
