Interesting Chess Variant: Reversed Chess

Nice troll.
Well, I hope it's a troll for your sake.
There was a guy on the Chess960 forum that did this, a year ago or more, too lazy to find it.
Basically all that happens is that the board flips sideways...reflects sideways, if you played an opening on the dark squares it is now on the light squares, king side is now queen side, d4 is now e4, etc.
Can be used for training the other side of the brain and avoid the same old thing without really changing the game.
Toss a coin, heads white starts, tails black starts.
Toss coin again, heads king on e-file, tails king on d-file.
Here it starts with white with king and queen switch, sicilian but now played on the other side of the board, starting with d4 for white, could flip colours as well, no difference to the actual game, but different pattern recognition for the players.

Lots of laughs, somehow i do not believe your 5 year old nephew played that game.
Like I said. He got lucky. Any other day I would have beaten him.

Reversed chess is interesting. For one, it immediately eliminates all opening knowledge or what I call "memorisation" that a lot of phoneys rely on these days. I think by playing like this we can get back to the golden days of chess. Black moves first. Of course! "So simple, but brilliant".
That's exactly what I was going for. The idea is to throw opening theory through the window. Black going first changes everything. We can finally get back to the romantic era of the beautiful game when Chess artists like Paul Morphy shined.

That is not reverse chess. Reverse chess is where you start in a mate situation and play back to the initial board position.

That sounds more like "Backwards Chess".

Let's just call it Ssehc

Hahahahahaa! Yes Ssehc! Because it is chess backwards!
Ohhhhhh!!! Hahaha! I just got it. Oh man, hearty good laugh.

wow you're nephew could grow up to be a real paul morphy one day. keep training him.
There's no need to give him so much credit. He got lucky in that game. That's it. He's not better than me.

Amusing.
Somebody posted this topic in the general forum today.
Then somebody moved this topic to the Chess960 and other variants forum.
Then somebody decided to move it back to the general forum.
Somebody may not be the same person.
I wonder who did what...

If you aren't, then this isn't a variant. It's just black playing as White. There is no difference. You are basically saying: instead of White moving first, black moves first! See what I mean? It's the same exact game except for the color of the pieces.
No no no. None of this makes sense.

In fact there is a small advantage for black. Everything's reversed. It's crazy. I might be a genius.

I'm sorry I just don't believe Vlad. Oh, I believe he played that game with his 5 yr old nephew, its the; "After years of trying to find a suitable variant". Its more likely the 5 yr old drove you crazy with, "How come YOU go 1st"? "How come white goes 1st"? "Why"? "Why"? "Why"? You finally got frustrated enough to turn the board around and say, "FINE! YOU GO 1ST".
As already remarked, this is not a variant. It is just playing normal Chess with differently colored pieces, and as a mirror image. In fact there exist hundreds of such non-variants. E.g. you could play with brown and white pieces, or red and blue pieces. And you could rotate the board 90-degrees, so that you have to play sideways. Or, if you have a magnetic travel set, hang it from the ceiling...
I've done it.
After years of trying to find a suitable variant that will succeed Chess, I've done it.
It's so simple, but yet so brilliant. Check it out. It's called Reversed Chess. In this variant Black moves first. Which of course means that White moves second.
Check out this sample game for demonstration purposes. This was played between my Nephew and I. He got lucky and beat me in this game, but it's just a trial game so I don't care anyway.
