I've been doing puzzles for about the past year, and it has been only recently that I learned that there is a rating system to it. So, I joined a membership program a few days ago so I could freely do puzzles and managed to get 2700. I'm quite surprised that I got to that number so I began to wonder if puzzles are inflated. This is because even though I only really use chess.com for puzzles, I still have a 700 rating on rapid which is really low. I was thinking about starting to play more games due to this. How high in rating do you guys think is average for a puzzle of 2700? Is 700 just about right?
Puzzles ratings for the vast majority of players are a lot higher than any of their online game ratings. Much of that comes down to the fact that you know there's something in the position to find and you don't have that in games.
When playing, you have to be able to get positions with potential tactics, and not only recognize the potential, but also be able to calculate if it really exists.
