Is 2700 tactic ratings normal for a 1200?

Hello everyone! so.. i play tactics like ive always did everyday and i just hit 2700 tactics, my highest puzzle rush score is 36.
Are all 1200 rated players also have 2700 rating in tactical puzzle?

It's not abnormal. It mostly reflects the fact that you like to do puzzles. Puzzle ratings aren't really like other ratings. They don't directly correlate to playing strength.

Look at the Puzzle Leaderboard. The leader had 65,000 points the last I checked.

I think your 5 minute puzzle rush score of 36 is more impressive.

You clearly have a strength in tactics. For 1200, I believe 2700 puzzle is quite strong. I see that you're 1400 bullet now though, so it looks like tactics training has paid off.

That is better than most 1200’s. Well done. 👍🏻

Because his bullet rating has increased? It would mean more if his rapid rating had increased. What good is bullet improvement?

Bullet is a really fun way to play the game. The speed that he finds tactics really helps him do well in that format. Also, if you look, he plays bullet with very high accuracy, better accuracy than 1200s get in rapid. In his profile, he hasn't played much rapid, but I'd wager he'd see improvement there as well.

You are definitely better at tactics than the average 1200. Massively actually.

My tactics was 2600 at 1800.

So.

Once you guys are at 2000+ tactics, go to ChessTempo. You're just cutting yourself short by doing your tactical training here.

Well I switched to chesstempo after 3000 but yeah the tactics are much better there

1400 bullet is much stronger than 1200rapid at those levels. He only has a few rapid games, I'd wager he is quite a bit underrated.

What makes the tactics on chess tempo better?

There are a lot more themes. I believe there's also a nice mix of "play and win" and "play and defend puzzles"

I found this very nice puzzle over there by the way. Solve if you want!: https://chesstempo.com/chess-tactics/89660

How much time do you spend solving a tactics puzzle?
How much time do you spend playing a move in a game?

#21 and #22 really is the duality of people answering a question on chess.com.

technical_knockout

that's a very strong puzzles score, especially for your rating.  i would recommend supplementing your tactical training with lessons & endgame study if you are looking to improve your overall play.
