.. All the evidence, suggests .. that's 'Normal'; Since regardless, of how 'high' one's rating may be ; Remember that, {with few, private 'side-bet' exceptions} ; No, $$ are at stake ; And, as for, the collective, anonymous Egos, re. any 'rating-point' decline; Those 'points' are easily recovered ; If, they decide to give a 'blitz' game, the attention, it deserves ..
.. Plus, I'd imagine ; Most are playing .. to escape, something More pressing, on their minds ; Which can be, a distraction, in itself !
.. As for, the 'fishes' playing 'tougher' than you'd imagine !? .. It could be, a combination, of 3rd party, assistance ; Plus, {no offense} ; You Not seeing, a succession, of inaccurate moves, {by either, or both players} ; In a faster, time- frame. o:
I've found it incredibly hard to move up in blitz and that the play is often just as good if not much better at the lower ratings.
I play 5 and 10 minute blitz (rarely bullet and 3 min.). And I also play rapid/standard (15 min.+) games.
The players with higher ratings in rapid and standard (1200-1400) make really big mistakes that are often unprovoked and simplistic (just randomly hanging a piece), while people playing 900 through 1100 blitz seem equal or better.
Is this normal?
(On a side note: Does anyone think low-rated players cheat at all here?)
