If you believed they put a man on the moon
Man on the moon
If you believe there's nothing up his sleeve
Then nothing is cool

I don't like it. Played 20 games and i lost them all. It was boring. Every piece is the same. Half the games were the same. All the moves are the same. Little bit reminds me of anti-chess. If you go wrong in first 5 moves or so then is easy forced win for your opponent. It has some simularity with chess like opposition at endgame traping the queen but chess is 1000x better. I dont understand the mental state of my opponents. two of them played with me like 5 games - i was playing very slow even at obvious forced recaptures and as i said some games very easy wins for them, but they keep playing vs me like they feel better beating absolutely beginner who don't even know all the rules.

I played a USCF expert a few months ago at USATE who also happens to be an IM of Russian Checkers. Mikhail (listed as "Michael" in USCF registry) Layevskiy, a fixture at the Marshall chess club and NYC/Philly tournaments.
He's on the right in this video:

Yes, it IS particularly a game. Checkers resemble the custom curriculum rendition of chess. Much like the Specialy learn chess online.

My school tend to open chess tournaments every year but never did checkers. Now I realized that means chess is better than checkers. all you do in checkers is to defend and kill all the pieces, that's it. Unlike chess it focuses more on defend, attack, positioning, thinking, planning and checkmating.
Checkers is not a sport.
Checkers is solved.

I have been reading through the forums and have read people saying that chess is a sport. Supporters of this notion often bring up the fact chess requires skill and endurance. These same arguments can be made for other board games like checkers. Don't get me wrong, I love chess, and I am not putting it down in anyway. So, is checkers a sport? What about monopoly, or go, or dungeons and dragons, or risk? After all these are games that require skill.
