Is chess.com a dating site?

In one of my games I got a question "r u male?". I said that yes I am and that if he is looking for a date why not download Tinder. 

I really struggle to understand why anyone would come on here looking for action other than chess action. I only want to penetrate my opponents 7th rank if you know what I mean. We are on the internet and things get weird no matter where you go, I get it, but can anyone help me peek inside the mind of these people? There are probably thousands of dating apps out there, why in the world would anyone try their luck on chess.com? 

In chess parlance, looking to score on chess.com seems to me to be an obvious blunder only a patzer would make. I think those people need to step back and reevalaute their moves and try different tactics. 1. "r u male" has been refuted by opening theorists as unsound and speculative.

I considered 2 "... I swing both ways hon" and the sharp " .. I do not fit into binary gender categories how dare you assume my gender??" but settled on a solid alternative with little theory. 

They're trying to find a mate, but that's the wrong way to do it.

It`s an obvious beginners mistake. A mate in 1 threat that is easily avoided.

Same here, got asked if male or female, when answered male he wanted to know wheter I am married or not, if I could send pictures of me and my wife etc. etc. Got really weird. I guess ppl are just trolling and having fun. There is absolutely no reasonable reason (great linguistics..) to go on a chess website with the intention to hit on girls.

The correct answer is "not on Fridays". Oh how I miss the golden days of the internet where all forums and chats displayed asl at the top

Stranger 1 has disconnected

I find it humorous that when I hit "play" button on live chess, it flashes thru random profile pics while searching. About 1/3 to1/2 are female. Rather than the 1 in 20 (being generous) that are likely members.

• To encourage females to play more as they have many peers?
• To virtual signal that a fair and balanced population/site?
• Or, heaven forbid, to make Basement Boi Trevors think they've got a snowball's chance in Hades of finally meeting that special one here!
