Is chess your lifestyle or a hobby?

I was just wondering if you personally use chess as a small hobby, or do you make it much more and make it a lifestyle. I personally use it as a hobby that I go in and out of occasionally. How about you?

Its part life style, and part hobby. 

For me it is a hobby, clearly, else I'd be a GM

Me, personally? I'm flattered! I actually use it for physical exercise.

Even micromovements burn calories and develop muscle tone. Certainly better than sitting around motionless all day.

But cereally, flakes - I'm a blitz fiend. I just like to play blitz.

In my case, "distraction" would be the proper term.

Hobby, no one takes up chess seriously at 50 heh

Many decades ago, I encountered someone who said that one has to make sacrifices in life for chess, adding that chess was worth it. I wonder how he feels now.
