I have both. Chess Openings Wizard is great because it is so simple to use. One of its selling points is that it makes it easy to see both the mainline and mainline variations. While Chessbase does offer a host of other options, if you don't need them they are wasted. I teach chess for a living and use Chess Openings Wizard for training my students. It is also less likely to crash if you're using an older OS. Chessbase is great because you can add on a host of features if you're a big student of specific openings. However, if your looking for a quick way to improve your opening games, you got the right program. Also, Mike at Bookup is great about returning emails personally. Let me know if you have any questions about the program and using it.
I recently bought Chess Openings Wizard and I'm pleased with it. I've never used Chessbase. Am I missing out? What is the general opinion? What does it do differently? Help a noob out. Thanks.
