Is it cheating to listen to music while playing chess?

DoYouLikeCurry
No haha unless the music is like the moves to the caro-kann played over a piano accompaniment 😂😂

What about rated games? Do people get their accounts banned for it?

DrDillPickle12
No I don’t think so. People in the Bullet Chess World Championship listened to music.

Seriously, I don't want to be mean. I really don't want to be mean. But what a seriously stupid question.

Cobra2721

Yes, you get banned, chess.com have technology which allows them to tell if you are listening to music. Even a radio in the background can lead to a ban. Say goodbye to your account.

Pokervane

And to think they say "there is no such thing as a stupid question".

I have heard that people who listen to Mozart improve their IQs. It is called the Mozart effect.

I play my chess games while listening to music.

It depends on the music, like if it was someone listing lines of the Silican Defense it would be cheating.

Dont worry, many people do it including myself. Plus how would chess.com know?
