I dont want to read about fantasies, but i want to read so that i can improve to take myself to next level.
Is it worth buying J.Silman Books?

try to avoid the trap.better get chess informant and a pj book .then read one page these then switch to another

I think IM Silman's books are very well done. Only you can decide if they are worth buying. I would suggest seeing if they are available at a public library first...save yourself some cash.

Thanks guys, okay endgame book is worth buying.
Now i want suggestion about the other 4 books, did the other 4 books helped anybody, please share your experience, how was it and is it simple or very complicated?.

They all help you see chess in a new light.
I had the benefit of borrowing them from my local library!

I have them all...I believe they have all helped me understand the game better. I like his style of writing and I think for me they were worth the the expenditure...what price knowledge?

It seems Silman's books are either loved or hated in these forums, depending on who responds. I like them all in varying degrees. If I had to point to one book that has helped me improve the most, it's How to Reassess Your Chess, without a doubt.
It was the right book at the right time for me. If I had worked through My System or Chess Fundamentals at that time instead, maybe I'd point to one of those books--but I think Reassess covers more material than either of those books in any case.
These books are rich and complex. If you aren't ready for books like these, you will be wasting time with them to a degree--but you won't know that without trying, and you might not become ready for them without getting a taste of their contents, anyway.

I thought they were useful. I mean, I was 1400 when I picked three of those up, and was almost 1900 a year later, so it couldn't have hurt...

look out for the wide spread spider net..
Also this particular writer's book's discussion done here in every alternate day so searching the forum may return result with 1000 similar threads.

I was 1000 a year ago I think and now am almost 1900 after picking up Silman's books.
I never read any of them though. I'm one of the players that prefers classical books like My system. Still, picking up those books couldn't have hurt.

I own the endgame book and it's worth it. I still haven't completed it all, but it contains enough to help me have everything covered at my current class level and then some. I see myself referring to it often for years down the road. You definitely won't regret buying it. He does a great job explaining so many concepts, but two I learned stick out in my mind the most:
How to create a Lucena Position to win
and
the Philidor Position to draw instead of lose
I came across 5 books of J.Silman namely
1. The Amateur mind
2. The complete chess strategy
3. Silman's complete endgame course
4. How to reassess your chess
5. The reassess your chess WORK.
Is it worth buying all these books? Anyone have these books please share how was it, will it be usefull or not?.
