In addition, count how many WC have come from norway and compare that to the number of WC from Norway. If you want to be extra sure of how pathetic Norway is compared to Russia check that very top100 ratings list and count how many of them are from Norway and then comapre that to how many are from Russia>>>>>

I don't know if you fell on your head or something, but the only one from norway on the top 100 fide rating is magnus carlsen.
Russia, has 23 on the list, about a quarter! And of course some of them are on the top, like kramnik. Many other countries have much more and stronger chess player than in norway, like ukraine, usa, hungaria, ajerbaijan, france, and even little israel.
I don't know what do you have with magnus carlsen, but if you want to say anything else about him, please tell it to your mother or something, and don't post it here.

but its possible for 1 player to make that chess nation the strongest in the world

There r so many things wrong (or at least inaccurate) with that example:
1. Portugal also has Pepe, Fabio Coentrao and Nani, who, although they aren't as good as Spain's starters, are definitely better than "mediocre."
2. Whether or not there r any Spanish players better than Ronaldo is totally subjective. Imo there r quite a few players in the Spanish national team that are better than Ronaldo.
And Superking: If you think Portugal is a better team than Spain, take a look at the results of these competitions:

Euro 2012
