Is premium really worth it?

I know there’s access to other stuff and all that, but it seems kinda costly to me, at least. Do you think I should go for it or would I be better off leaving it alone?
moneywaves

It's not very expensive and you support the site. Of course, there are alternatives to the benefits, but it's really up to you. I think the lessons look pretty cool.

Depends on how much time do you want to invest on chess.

I think it is a great to use the premium, mainly due to the analysis of your games!

Complete and total waste of money.

Geeze,  for a grand total of $0.08 per day I get no ads, 25 puzzles per day, and a few lessons a week. I should actually try using the lessons more often.

Its worth it if you spend the time, otherwise just go to Lichess and get some inflated rating there.

I wouldn't pay even if I had money, lichess has free analysis, free puzzles and lessons, you can edit a board and play against a computer from that point and you can play against a wider variety of bots. The only thing that i like about chess.com is the number of active players and user experience, so I recommend that you play mostly on chess.com and use lichess to train.

After finishing a game on chess.com, you can go to https://lichess.org/paste and paste the PGN notation

Forgetful_Guy

It's really up to you. Ads are rarely an issue on chess.com and you don't really need it if you are a casual player or a person who wants to play and learn at the same time. However, you should buy premium if you want to be competitive and learn without grinding.

TrickyScent

Depends. If u are just playing and playing, then the free version seems to be enough. But if u want to play the puzzles a lot and to do all the lessons then maybe Premium might be worth it

Santoy

Premium membership costs £2 per month which is around 6p a day ?!?!

Do you realise how much effort is involved in providing it? I'd say that it was an outstanding bargain.

So, despite all that you use and recommend,  you choose not to support something for only pennies a day.

I do like some of the benefits available to premium, but half the reason I have it is to contribute to chess.com after using their site for over a decade, since 2009 or so.

sunofnothing

If you want to support the site, it's definitely worth it. With that being said, the lessons are not that great in my opinion, and the puzzle system on Lichess is better. I pay for premium to support Chess.com though

Honestly, only you know if it is worth it to you. If you don’t have the budget, or it is very limited, that is one thing but for me chess is the cheapest hobby I have by a huge huge margin, and compared to how much I spend on drink and eating out, it’s a joke.

Having said that, you definitely don’t need to have membership. It is more on a perk than anything else. Maybe try it for a month and then decide?

For me I really enjoy chess and budget is not an issue so it has worth to me simply in the fact that I don’t have to worry about any restrictions on what I can do. I also like that all my online chess (games and stats) is on one site. The only other site I use is Chessables.

If you play a lot of chess, it is well worth the money. The game analysis, lessons and puzzles are helping me to improve every day.
