Chess.com just sent message that it can’t verify some of its claims and representatives ... wtf
baddogno

No one knows for sure.  They have yet to demo a working model.  Neither have any prices been announced.  I'm sure the Kickstarter campaign will provide more details once it starts.  And of course since most manufacturing is done in China, and the corona virus is wreaking havoc with their economy, I wouldn't expect a finished product ready for sale any time soon.

Hmm, can we see a copy of this message you received?

Chess.com is a company founded by chess lovers. Like you, we get excited at the prospect of bold, revolutionary innovations that will help chess evolve.
Recently, Chess.com was approached by REGIUM Chess who wished to sponsor one of our events, the Speed Chess Championship Final. With that sponsorship came a mailer which many of you received just two days ago.
In that mailer, Chess.com communicated the claims made by REGIUM Chess on their official site and publications. Chess.com also made it clear that while we are happy to partner with new and exciting products like the ones advertised by REGIUM, we are not involved in, and as such do not endorse, the fundraising efforts or manufacturing processes of these products and have no connection to the ownership of these products.
During the ongoing process of due diligence that is required when partnering with a third-party product, we have not been able to verify some of the claims made by REGIUM. Some of these claims have been researched in coordination with our colleagues from other chess sites around the world, while others have been researched independently by Chess.com. The claims Chess.com has been unable to to verify are in relation to both the products being marketed by REGIUM as well as representatives of the company.
We hope to see an excellent product emerge from REGIUM's upcoming Kickstarter campaign. At the same time, we encourage all of our amazing users to do their own due diligence and use their best judgement when verifying or validating claims related to any campaign, product or company, including REGIUM.
We believe that sending this message is consistent with Chess.com's values because we truly care about doing what is in the best interests our members.
Thank you for being part of the Chess.com family and we hope you have a great weekend!

I think we all already got the message.

Another platform put out a blog for their members today.

So chess.com took a cautious position and asked everyone to do their own due diligence.

That seems reasonable and makes the fraud headline here ridiculous.

GMKyleP

yeah

fastpaul

yeah, it's pretty clearly a fraud. Check out the blog post on lichess

I agree

It’s akward for chess.com to allow Regium to sponsor an event and then distance themselves from the product... Regium is clearly trying to buy credibility for kickstarter campaign

Huh. Usual corporate PR bulldung. Hey guys, we might have done a large F up by dealing with a possibly dubious company. We hope we haven't but just in case we have this is our way of absolving ourselves from any responsibility and we are seriously lawyered up so don't accuse us of any wrongdoing. Because we don't care about Chess, we don't care about People, we care about Profit. People are cattle, sorry, consumers, to be extorted for excessive Profit. Simple as. Now, have a Wonderful day. Well, we dont care what kind of day you have but we say have a Wonderful day because we might get more Profit. Uh, could we intrest you in a premium membership? happy.png

Let’s not talk about this scam anymore. Let’s not fuel their rage for critics when the most important thing is the profit their making.

I think you are a little unfair.  Chess.com let people know that they hadn't been able to verify the claims of Regium.  It effectively means they won't be able to take sponsorship money from Regium unless and until they find out a lot more.

That will hurt their bottom line.

Just on a very practical level, if the pieces slide to where they need to go on the eboard, how does the knight achieve this when there isn’t a clear path , eg taking the rook after a successful fried liver attack??

Ok, sorry.

Because they are not real piece? CPU illusion piece to confuse addictive person they playing real Chess. And fried liver is refuted. And how come piece be head of horse when meant to be a knight?! Why not have head of knight with helmet on? Why?!

Depending on the position and the board, the knight can either fit in between the other pieces or it moves the other pieces slightly out of the way first and then moves them back after moving the knight through.
