Is the Reti opening better than the English opening?

Thoughts?

The September 2018 issue of Chess lists the top twenty openings compiled from a list of 2604 July games where both players were rated over 2400 Elo. One can not take position on this list too seriously because it is greatly influenced by how the openings are grouped. For example, all the Retis are grouped together, while English is separated into 1...c5, 1...e5, etc. Nevertheless, for what it is worth, some of the list entries are: 188 Retis, 115 King's Indians, 104 Caro-Kanns, 89 Nimzo-Indians, 86 declined Queen's Gambits, 83 Najdorf Sicilians, 67 Slavs, 64 Kan Sicilians, 52 Closed Ruy Lopezes, 50 1...e6 Englishes, 49 Berlin Ruy Lopezes, 47 Catalans, 44 1...e5 Englishes, 44 1...c5 Englishes, 44 Petroffes, and 42 1...Nf6 Englishes.

I prefer the Reti / Barcza / King's Indian Attack, yes.

This sort of thing:

Yeah, that's totally cool. Can it be played against any system .. I mean is it a universal system because I love playing the KID and would like to play it every game.

The KIA (King's Indian Attack) can be played against nearly any Black formation, yes. You'll need to get familiar with several different plans for White though, depending on the formation Black adopts.

Here's an example of the e2-e4-e5 plan shown above:

... but there are several other formations that White might adopt instead, depending on the choices Black makes.

I wouldn't say that the KIA can be played against anything...

For example, against a kingside castle I would prefer the Colle-Zukertort as the KIA doesn't offer as much options for a kingside attack

The game quoted immediately above, and the following game, are both K-side attacks.

I can post another, from a rated OTB tournament, if you wanted to see it.

I'm not saying thay you can't make a succesfull kingside attack with the KIA but not as fast. Also the white bishop is not helping much on attacking the black's king
