Is there a way on Chess.com to give time odds to one side?

Lets say someone who was low rated (like me) wanted to have a fighting chance against someone who is higher rated. Is there a way to set up time odds in an unrated game here on chess.com. I mean something like I get 30 minutes and the higher rated player gets 5 minutes.

On that same line of thinking is there a way to take a piece away from the stronger player...like giving knight or rook odds?

I think giving odds would be a great feature for chess.com to offer.

You can do material odds in Daily games by starting the position from a Custom FEN. Live doesn't have that option

Oh!  That is very cool.  Thanks

I can confirm that it is possible to play an unrated "daily" game with piece odds. I went into my Chess Master 10 and "set up position" without a knight on one side, then I copied the position to my clipboard. Then I opened a daily game custom challenge and pasted the "FEN" into it. When the game was set up on Chess.com, sure enough, it was the same  position I created in Chess Master. Very cool. I do think it would be cool to set up an unrated time odds game though.

Chess.com, hope you're reading this. Great suggestions if they don't already exist somehow.

Pretty sure that moderators or "special" people can do it. I have seen @myteachersam play time odds.

it is 100% verty possible ELSEWHERE. Just simply look at the FREE competition. Easy as that. The man won't let me say where because they are capitalist pigs ;)

Hello, can't find the thread about this today might have been in beta club.

Never mind look... I hate fast games but it's the only way i can play my son on this site, we need those odds immediately I think.

Never disliked playing this game so much as I do right now after getting wasted by two people in super fast games when I was just trying to match my son got it wrong at first some plonker joined me. Then my son beat me though I Had millions of pieces left still lost on time.

I WILL play my son but not currently on this site I guess, if I can't get these odds - no one seems to have a good reason against so hope we are able to play here.

Also it's skewing my rating when I'm playing my kids and letting them have take backs and pretending not to take their pieces etc.

I've just posted to Site Feedback:
Live Chess Feature Request - Odds

thank you very much for reading the manual xD

JayeshSinhaChess

You could. You and your opponent want to play a 3 min vs 1 min game. Then start a 3I0 game and ASAP in the game when it is the turn of whoever is to play with 1 min, wait for the clock to run down to 1 min and then continue from there.

Thats the only way I could think of.

wollyhood

Yah that's not practical, I need to have 30 vs 5 min games with my kids, am not going to set my timer for 25 minutes end of every game xD

We need it built into the interface

I saw that 2 titled players were playing in time odd. How can we do that?

It isn't something that is generally available. Staff may have access to something like that but it hasn't been released to normal members.

I think I heard it is on schedule as a feature in 2027
