Is there a way to show resignation in a PGN?

Hi. I know you can show resignation with 1-0 or 0-1 (depending on the winner) but is there a symbol or something I can put in my PGN so the resignation flag is shown and that it's clear that the game ended with a player resigning?

Just add a comment after the last move.

alright, thanks happy.png

There’s a proper way of doing it. If you’re on analysis board, go to —> details —> any result and change it to 1-0 or 0-1

{Black resigns} 1-0

Every game where someone loses but no checkmate occurs, ends by a resignation. Just look at the last move and see if there is the special checkmate character.

{Black timed out} 1-0

You could also have said Black forfeits because of illegal move/cheating detection/misbehaviour etc surprise.png

Yes, those are other possibilities.

You could also lose on time though

he asked about showing resignation via PGN you just said how add commentary. 2 different things. You dont need comment to show who won score is enough but making white flag like at game you just had is harder it seems.

Assume you want to show Black wins by resignation, and flag appears on the White king.

Open Analysis Board.

Go to Details, and change No Result to Black Won, and another result section below (which probably says White Won) to Black Won by resignation.

That should work. Just include the method of ending while writing the result in game details.

it will just say 0-1 theres no PGN "code" for resignation or any other result it just give score

PGN files support commentary. That’s the usual way to show the nature of the win.

However, I have noticed this website adding a great many more lines in the header that appears to offer another solution.

Yeah, the Termination field can be adjusted to meet the requirements.

Meanral

its still commentary like I said before not real notation. some analyzing soft can use tags with game data in [ ] or show your commentary in { } but some are simple and use "movetext" only.
