Juxtaposition in Game Explorere?

I'm curious about the apparent inability of Game Explorer to Juxtapose between openings.

Also, wouldn't it be nice to see the name of the opening as a Online Game progresses?

Eg.

1.Nf3

(A04: Zukertort Opening displays)

1.Nf3, c5

(A04: Zukertort Opening: Sicilian Invitation  displays)

2.e4,

(B27: Sicilian Defense: Misc, Defenses  displays).

* Note - Game Explorer seems to be deficient at 2.e4 as it does not display the name of this transposition after following said line.

Does the name tree for Game Explorer ignores positionality & focussing only on lines?

Juxtaposition means placing things side-by-side. In art this usually is done with the intention of bringing out a specific quality or creating an effect, particularly when two contrasting or opposing elements are used. The viewer's attention is drawn to the similarities or differences between the elements.

Pronunciation: jucks-ta-pose, jucks-ta-pos-i-shun

Also Known As: collocation.

Openings transpose all the time... for example with 1.c5 you may call it an english but it can transpose to just about any 1.d4 opening (at least one 1.e4 opening) and tons of 1.e4 openings reversed.  An opening name is like an imaginative ECO code.  When looking up a game it's only important what line the opening ends up being, not the transpositions that took place somewhere along the line.

That said, I think it's stupid to name an opening on the first move.  1.Nf3 isn't an opening for another ____ # of moves.  What I mean is, in a tournament you wouldn't play 1.Nf3 and immediately write "A04" or "Zukertort" on your score sheet would you lol.

fair enough. what about game explorer not displaying the name of the continuation for a transposition?

Oh, I see what you mean.  As in what moves would be required to keep it in "A04" or something.  Some of the early ones (like A04) require odd moves (no transposition to any other type of mainline opening) to keep it's title, so for example you could have for white's 2nd move Rg1 or something weird like that.

As for the mainline I guess you'd have to look it up on wiki or something... but most decent openings will transpose into something more recognizable / respectable like a sicilian or a QGD etc.  When you see a game with ECO A04 or "Zukertort" you know someone is trying out some odd moves early in the opening to keep this title.  (The colle-zukertort system is a solid choice however).

Anybody know of a program which will search a batch of pgn's for openings where my peices only occupy a specific position after x moves?

eg.  As black & when x=7 and the postion of the black peices are
