Do any of you know if Komodo 9 is coming out soon? Or Houdini 5? Also, how strong is Samsung, Equinox 3.3 or Stockfish Barracuda?

I wouldn't look for Houdini 5 this year and it's possible Houdart has abandoned the project.  That's the consensus opinion, anyway.

The Komodo team has not made any announcements (that I'm aware of) but they have a development version leading the TCEC tournament.  I therefore wouldn't be surprised to see a new Komodo release in the very near future.

Equinox appears to be quite strong, number 5 on this list ---->>

Just for giggles I ran a 30 game blitz (3/2) match pitting Strelka 6 against Komodo 8.  Thirty games is statistically insignificant but my results do suggest there's something wrong with the OP's configuration.  Komodo 8 won the match with 10 wins, 18 draws and two losses.

I tried something similar, but because I don't have Komodo 8, I had to go through the back door.

I made a statistically insignificant 50-game match with Strelka 6 against Stockfish 5 (40/4 time control, each engine using only one thread). Stockfish won with 20 wins, 20 draws, and 10 losses (+70 elo).

Now, the CCRL 40/4 rating list has Stockfish 5 64-bit at 3241 elo. Therefore, Strelka 6 would be at 3241 - 70 = 3171 elo. Since the same rating list has Komodo 8 64-bit at 3215 elo, then I could expect Komodo 8 to be about 44 elo stronger than Strelka 6. (More or less - give or take - rough ballpark guess, due to the small number of games.)

Thanks for taking the time!

I think you all should try Strelka 6... its really strong. Yes, it is multiprocesser. It is completely free and can be found at http://www.sdchess.ru/engines/Strelka6.rar

Now we know the real reason for the OP's original post.  Covert adverse-tising.

Hmmm...maybe I should fork the Stockfish source, tweak a variable or two, then call it "Btickler 7A"...

Stockfish 6 came out recently and is available for free download.

Oh... you are referring to the fact that Strelka is suspected to be a  clone/derivative of Rybka and/or Stockfish? I didn't mean to promote such an engine and I do not think that Strelka is a clone(correct me if I am wrong).

Also, do any of you know of any C++ forums that do not require me to set up an account?

Many thanks
