Seems the better you become, the more ideas and moves you steal. Is this true?

Why don't you play some games and find out for yourself?

How do you "steal" an idea or a move??

Ha ha ha HAH! This move is now MINE!  You'll never be able to use it AGAIN!  HAH HAH HAH HAH!

Naw, I own 1.e4. I have this here certificate...I got it from some guy who also offered me the Golden Gate Bridge, but I didn't have $200.

In science, it's called standing the shoulders of giants. When we, as observers, stand on the shoulders of Carlsen, Anand, Kasparov, etc, then it's easy to look down on the earlier giants like Morphy, Capablanca or even Fischer.

We steal their moves because we realize their greatness. The better you get, the better you know what is worth stealing.

Hey, if you want to win, then you play to win, right????

And we're stealing the English language from the people we learnt it from... and the Roman alphabet from, well, the Romans*!Wink

I can just see the Patent office getting slammed with patented chess moves requests. Then a person would have to pay a residual payment each time they made that move :) LOL

This is equivalent to "I decided to design a car, so I stole someone else's hard work. It's called wheel".

If you have to be that creative, then try to invent a new opening :). Or reinvent the older ones.. wait a sec..
