Thanks for the advice. I will drop studying openings and focus on tactics and endgames.
Learning but losing
Hello,
I feel a giddy lately. Win or lose I am taking something away from each game I play.
I just recently started studying and analyzing games, etc..
It seems now that I am studying endgame positions and openings. Analyzing my games, tactics training and taking notes on my games. I have lost 9/10 in 7 - 30 Min matches and 3 - 3 Min Blitz games. I've lost on time for the first time in a 30 minute match as well.
On the bright side I have only made one serious (subjective) blunders in those 30 Min games, I was short on time and gave away a pawn promotion. I got absolutely whomped in Blitz (For now I am going to stay out of Blitz chess.) It is a very odd feeling to lose more when I am working harder on improving my game. I am not giving up or expecting to jump to some higher plataeu in a short period of time. Just making an observation.
Most of the threads I have read, claim that improvement comes in spurts. Or that you will get worse before you get better. And you might have expected to hear this yourself. I beleive it, from experiences elsewhere in life. In business and other endeavors skill improvement (in my case) always has come over time or by having something demonstrated to me and then applying what I have learned several times.
So I will wait and keep playing.

I'd suggest basic king pawn endings before trying rook endings though.
browni3141 is right. Pawn endgames form the foundation of all endgames and ought to come first. But once mastered, rook endgames are a very practical endgame to master because of their high frequancy in games. Look up the positions of Grigoriev. He was a Soviet study composer and acknowledged as the World Champion of pawn endgames.
Incidentally, solving pawn endgames is a great way to improve one's calculation skills, according to German endgame maestro Karsten Mueller.
