Learning chess too fast

I am 12 and I started playing chess for about three months (self-learning with no resources). As I have a very high learning ability, I quickly got to 1200 rating in one and a half month, playing approximately two to five games each day. Well, then I rage quitted for losing five games in a row (yeah, i know, stupid) and stopped playing chess for a while. And yes, I immediately regretted and made a new account a week later. But to my surprise my chess skills seems to have improved itself even if I did nothing! Its not about general strength, my tactical vision and skills definitely did improve. As you can see in my profile, the highest rating I got was 1668 (at least my chess skills seemed to be at the 1650 level and I even got 82 accuracy playing with maximum engine 32.) I bulldozed everyone. I felt invincible. Until one day I suddenly seem to lose all my chess skills. I always had an advantage at first but then blunders mate in one or something. I don’t feel like myself. I couldn’t concentrate on chess and as a result, my rating dropped from 1668 to 1415 and I am still getting bulldozed by people who I thought I should have beaten (stockfish agrees with me, I should have) but I kept blundering and lose games with one blunder. I know I have ADHD but i think that’s not the case. Am I learning so fast that I can no longer adapt to my skills? If you had a similar experience plz tell me what to do.

I think you should play less games with higher time controls. Tilts happen to everyone, but taking a break, or simply focusing more on what your opponent’s tactics are and not making quick blunders (I know it hard) can help.

Yeah but the thing is I have ADHD so I always get distracted while thinking. And when I get back into the game I forget what I have seen and blunder. It’s sad

I know this sounds dumb but can you plz gift me a yearly membership? I want to learn chess better but chess.com is pay to win. I am also not allowed to buy a yearly membership since I am only 12. Plz help

Anunnakian

It's not pay to win. There's a lot of resources here that can help you improve with a membership, but all of those resources are available elsewhere for free. Well, maybe not ALL of them, but what you would need to improve is available for free.

Membership isn't that much worth it. Even if it, unlimited analysis and puzzles can be done in other platforms such as Lichess. Chess.com can help you slightly in your improvement, but not as much as you think. If you can't afford it, then it is not mandatory.

I just played two games and blundered them in one move. I feel so dumb what should I do?

Rimuru

Take a break.

AydenSiu

You are all so good I just tried an other time standard and lost again!

NICE STUFF

I suggest investing on a chess book instead of a membership. I use The Soviet Chess Primer by Ilya Maizelis. Make sure to sleep well and eat healthy, it really does help. Avoid playing when stressed out or tired. :)!

Yeah I just want my rating back

AydenSiu

And I am stressed these days as my final assessment examination is coming. Maybe thats the case

Sea_TurtIe

people at the 1700-1900 level still blunder pieces and tactics quite a bit, its actually funny

if you can learn to keep the pressure going and to allways calculate and find the best moves you can get higher

yimv

Yeah you should put off chess for now. I stopped playing too when I had exams and projects due. If you’re insistent on playing either way, schedule your time wisely and do not set it as a priority. Good luck!happy.png you can do this

AydenSiu

Thx! I really needed that

AydenSiu

I am just gonna bulldoze some noobs and boost my confidence

piedraven

You need a break.

Take a few days off.

We all get the blunders, it's normal, just take some rest days.

Nah just got totally destroyed by a 1000 idk what happened to me. I was once able to bulldoze everything at 1650-1700 but now i am complete trash
