Learning How To Play Blitz

Any advice on how a beginner should train in order to play 10/0 blitz well, and can I improve my blitz game by just playing 10/0 blitz? I'm not talking about reaching a blitz rating of 2000 or anything like that. But would it be possible for me to reach a blitz rating of 1500? To me that sounds like a pretty good rating. Thanks!

I think the best way to get better at fast chess is to play a lot of slow chess, so you get a good overall grasp of the game. You're not going to improve much just playing blitz. Unless you're like 13 years old.

Enough already with the repetitions!  Learn how to spell "tactics".

I'm a terrible blitz player, but here's one thing I am trying that hopefully will help me to improve some.  I now regard 1:00 as the end of the game, because if I get down to 1:00 minute of time left in a 10 minute game and my opponent has 3 or 4 minutes left, basically I am going to lose the game on time;  that's the way it happens 90% of the time when I get down to 1 minute.  When you are down to 3 or 3:30 minutes in a 10 minute game, you can't search for terrific moves or terrific combinations you have to accept moves that don't lose drastic material and just push out the moves.  Good luck!

Everybody says" Don't play blitz " yet, "Everyone plays blitz"

The idea is to use blitz/bullet for improvement, but not take it seriously. They're really good for getting experience with openings, and keeping you sharp tactically.

Of course, you shouldn't try to think in blitz, at least not in any way like you would in a slow game.

And speed chess only is of course not helpful for improvement.
