hi everyone, i have been playing chess for something like a year  right now (1500 rating +-) and i want to try learning with a coach.

right now i don't really know anything about how this platform works here or how to choose a coach that suits my level and my needs.

so basically this post is meant to get recommendations about coaches, to hear for things to consider in general, and to know really what are the options out there?

You have a special chess.com page devoted only for coaches. Its designed to help potential students find new coach and to help the coaches to represent themselves at the same time. I would love to help you more woth this, but I have no experience with coaching since I never had one. I would like to be a coach one day, but its not happening in the near future. I need to get a lot better first. I wish you best of luck in finding the right coach. :)

"i want to try learning with a coach." ++ Why?

"how to choose a coach that suits my level and my needs" What are your needs? Language is an issue. Playing level is an issue. Money is an issue. I would say choose the coach with a common langiage and the highest playing level for the money you can afford.

"things to consider in general" ++ In general a good book or a good site may give you more value for your money. You can buy a book by a world top player for $20. That gives you like 200 h of top tuition. If you would hire a top player as a coach, then that would cost you 200 $/h.

I have been getting coached by IM Pawel here for awhile, and I have been improving a lot. Here's his page: https://www.chess.com/member/pawel_chess_coach I highly recommend him :tup

I would also reach out to “Diego-ChessInColors”.

He has been very patient and a good listener with me. His assessment are accurate. He further asks challenging questions to push yourself.

Saw immediate results and achieved all my milestones that a 1200 level player rarely does. I went from 1200 to 1300+ rapid and 2000 to 2200+ puzzles rating within one month by increasing accurate play and tactics. Hit 42 puzzles survival rush.  Won an Arena and Swiss tournament. Defeated 1800+ high rated players  and held my own against 1900 players.

I am also an unorthodox player which makes it even harder to find a coach that is willing to work with me.

Expect hard work as well.

Best of luck. Overall chess.com is a great community for fostering learning.
