What's happening in legend e league?!   After many player in lower divisions made more than 15k trophies even some players more than 20k... Now that they are legend...the have 0 to 300 trophies.  Can anybody explain the reason???

They are probably burned out. The problem with Leagues in my opinion is that even though it inspires more people to play the game of chess for a reward, it doesn't reward those who improve the quality of their chess.

Yes, the only people that will win is the ones who spend hours just playing chess. Not studying, only playing.

I agree that they're probably burned out, I had a feeling that would happen to some players however some of them were in legend league for a couple weeks before it started so I'm not sure what happened. Unless they missed the start or something. Right now it seems like there's going to be a clear winner, already over 1000 points ahead of 2nd place.

Over time more and more people will join those higher leagues.

There are no demotions, so eventually, most active players will reach the top 2 leagues

What will be the point of them then?

I was also thinking about that, and I created a program to predict when all the currently active players would reach Legend League (https://www.chess.com/forum/view/general/i-created-a-program-that-predicts-league-events), but many new people are joining the site everyday, and confirmed by @Martin_Stahl, the lower leagues will not likely run out of players because of that

The problem is, there is no need for all people to be in top league for it to be pointless

When there will be let's say 25% of people in the top league it won't be too hard to be in it, and so it will lose the active players group prestige

And that will come much sooner, because the more people are in given league the more is going to the next one, and currently the "wave" is at silver/cristall

This week there will be I guess 100 more in legend- that will mean 200players

next week about + 200 Soo 400

Next one about 300 and soon there will be a lot of them

Wuwei2022

After great struggles and overcoming personal boundaries the great Wuwei2022 entered the legend league. Proudly stepping on the pedestal he raised his arms in glory and declared "I am legend!"

<echo>

He looked around him. Astonished. All the people going about their business. Some giving him a quick gaze. Again he raised his head and shouted "Victory! Veni vidi vici!"

<silence>

He got off his pedestal. moved into the mediocracy of the crowd. He grabbed people. Shook them. Looked into their disturbed faces. And said things like "I did it!"  "I may not have been the first but now I am legend!"  " Hey man. Did you hear what I said?"

<blanc stares>

Baffled now. He fumbles for his smart device.  Calls the familiar number. " Mum!  I am legend!" .   "Yes son. you are. " Pride fills his heart like a warm shower at the acknowledgement. " Are you eating enough vegetables?"  " Yes mom. I do. Legend should stay healthy ey?"

Is the Legends league considered an accomplishment?  In my humble opinion, I think it is!  The Legends league depends on number of games won, not number of games played.  Therefore success does not depend on game volume.  With that being said, note to developers: "It would be awesome to have a separate league based hierarchy designed to test how much you have studied the game!"

Actually, your are probably right haha!  I can see people spending long hours, getting maybe 1 win for every 10 games they play.  And then after 100 games they win 10 times lol.  Ah, fiddlesticks!  I was super proud to get to the Elite League, and I am pretty sure I am moving up to champion within the next 22 hours.  But yeah maybe volume is a significant factor.  happy.png

If you are looking for a measurement of your skill then check your rating.
Leagues show only amount of wines compared to other players
if you are 1 win/100 games but played 10 000 games and won 100 then you will still progress more that someone who played only a 100 but won 99 of them

Also week after week getting to higher leagues is less and less of an acomplishement as noone can drop of a league. as for today there are more champion players than stone players.
I guess that in the end of this year there will be same amount of legends as stone players.
