During the height of COVID I definitely noticed that a lot of new players were streaming on Twitch, especially women. I’m sure this had a lot to do with the Queen’s Gambit. That has definitely subsided. A few have stuck with it, and some have improved tremendously, but most have just abandoned the game. I’m sure this applies to chess in general as well.
I wonder what the number are, but I imagine, that many people who picked up chess as a COVID hobby have stopped or will stop playing chess as Covid kind of goes away. LET US NOT turn this into a debate of Covid or anything.
I have noticed people I used to chat with are on there a lot less, just curious
