Lichess players vs Chess.com players

Does anyone else find themselves winning against players that are 500 points or more higher on lichess vs players on here? No joke, I win against a 1750 player on lichess, hop on here and lose to a 1250 player. And this is somewhat common. I’ve heard there’s a difference between ratings on the two sides but, 500 points? Seems odd

Why does that seem odd? The starting ratings are different.  The players are different.

Ratings are completely relative to the group you are playing.

The starting ratings are different but I’ve been playing on both sites for a long time so why would that matter? I would think a lot of players play on both sites like I do but I could be wrong about that. So the players on here are so much better that 1200 level players are as difficult or harder to beat than 1700 players on lichess? 500 rating points is a lot

The starting ratings for a glick-2 system used at liChess is 1500 while the starting rating here is 800.  The median rating at liChess is also about 1500.   The median rating here is ~1000-1200 (I don't really know) , so yes a 300 - 500 point difference makes sense.  I believe the ratings start to converge as you start getting over 2200 or so.  It could also be that the pool of players here are better, on average, but I don't know that for sure.

Lichess ratings are something like 300 higher for the average to slightly good players.

ChessBooster

it is not rare to see CM with 2600-2700 on lichess.

here i am 2100-2200, on lichess 2500, (looking only rapid section , blitz i am not interested, not motivated nor i like it at all). but some of this also goes to fact that i have less conectivity issues and lag on lichess than on  .com

also here it is hard to get paired with players more than 2100 with 15+10 tempo, on lichess this is not the case, or at 10+5 tempo.

still i find .com rating much closer to ELO system.

I find it the same, Im so confused. On Lichess my rating usually oscillates between 1840 and 1920 (highest I have achieved is 1986), but here on Chess.com I cant even reach 1600. I also did the ELO test att elometer.net and it gave me a rating of 1871, which suggest that lichess is closer to finding my actuall rating

I am 2100 daily on lichess and 2000 in 10 min games also.

Elometer.net is very inaccurate.  It told me I qualify as a CM, which I am closer to a class D player.

Oh really? Is there any other more accurate ELO rating tests out there?

I have a lot of friend who are rated 2000+ in lichess but can't even get past 1600 here so the player in chess.com are just far stronger than lichess

Chess Exam by Igor Khmelnitsky is one I liked.

People on lichess are way weaker than those on chess.com. I've reached 1925 on lichess bullet but I can't find a way to get 1800 on chess.com

Honestly the only reason why I play on lichess is because I want to boost my motivation after a horrible tilt.

1. Different rating systems (Glicko-2 v. Glicko-1)

2. Different player pools - with some overlap

What would be surprising is if you had the same rating on both sites

I’ve never seen this mentioned before but from my personal experience players on Lichess have a similar opening repertoire. In bullet, I consistently get players who play the Philidor  and e6 d6 g6 b6 Bg7 Bb7 as black. As white, players always go for the open Sicilian. On chess.com, players usually play more “real” openings but almost always opt for an anti Sicilian rather than 3. D4. I’m not sure if anyone has noticed or experienced this before.

or rather, there are much more cheaters that they don’t fight against, and 1200 ratings play from the engine, because their real rating is 700 and they are offended
