Live Games not working on our Mac computers running Safari

This week, I registered three family members on Chess.com.  We have two Mac and two Windows PC's.  Chess.com works well with the Windows PC's.  However, both Mac computers will let us play four-person chess and run lessons, puzzles, etc.  But no live games.  When any of us try, we get this message from both Mac's on Safari: "You have successfully reconnected."  This message appears every few seconds over, and over again.  Anyone with the same issue?

How old is your Safari?

 

Have you tried with a different browser? The site recommends Chrome or Firefox.

OS:  10.14.6

Safari:  13.1

I tried loading Chrome.  Downloaded the DMG.  Moved it to my applications folder.  Tried to open it.  Got to this window.  But nothing happens from there, despite anything I click or try to open/run.

 

Haven’t tried Firefox yet.

I guess it is possible something change in Safari is causing an issue. I have access to a Mac but don't know if it has the newest Safari but if so maybe I can figure something out.

same issue, works fine from windows pc but not from mac. Tried Chrome and Safari - everytime it says "Pease wait, its taking longer than usual to connect" - and nothing happens :-(

Same issue on Ipad, please wait it is taking longer than usual to connect.

Are you actually going into the applications folder and running chrome.app there or are you just trying to launch it from the .dmg window? If you are doing the latter, try the former

That should be new enough. Are you trying to play in the Live Chess or Play interface?

yeah sadly it did but oh well time to move on, i use brave tho so dont know how bad this was

I have never used the Live Chess board, I always use the Play interface. I find it very annoying to be constantly told that Live is going away when I have never used it and could care less.  

Please just make it go away and be done with it already? Also can you make the interface work better on Chrome? I cannot see both clocks which makes it very hard to play blitz games on my iPad.  There is no way to re-size the screen to make it fit, why not?

Not sure how you're being constantly told live is going away if you're playing on the Play interface.

 

Regarding Chrome on your device, I can't offer any guidance there, since I don't have an iPad to test with.

If I get logged out a popup shows up telling me to switch from Live to Play. 

If I log in on  a different device I get the same popup message. It has been happening for over a year now and I am really wondering why Live is still on the site as they have been promising to delete it for more than a year. 

Chrome used to work fine, it fit the screen well and just this past week something changed and now it doesn’t fit the screen. Also on every other website the menu bar will fade away after a few moments but on this interface it is permanent which takes up a lot of screen.

If you're getting the switch dialog, you're in the old Live Chess interface and not the newer Play interface. If you have the same issues in Play, you should certainly open a ticket.
