How are you Davy??
A loose piece is an undefended one, potentially exposed to tactics (i.e. bieng forked off)

By this definition, a hanging piece is a loose piece that is directly attacked.
So, not the same thing, I guess.
Was reading a Jeremy Sillman article and he seemed to distinguish between a loose piece and a hanging piece. But at one point he referred to a loose piece but it WAS defended - maybe that was a mistake in the writing? Maybe IronTiger is right? That makes the most sense. Wonder if Jeremy is on here?
Goes to show you can get pretty darn good without knowing exact definitions - like New Zealand Mike. Doing okay Mike, I'm afraid to play you again based on our last two games.
Is a loose piece the same as a hanging piece?? If not, what IS a loose piece? Thanks in advance.
