Mac OS X Lion Chess Program

Welcome to the world of faster processors which old systems can't handle.
My apologies! I detected some factual errors in the original post and deleted it outright. When my screen refreshed I saw your reply!
My one correction was that Chess Deluxe at the "infinite" setting is really slow too...
I guess what boggles me is that DroidFish at the max setting on my Android tablet just flies--and beats me senseless every time...

Why do you use such an old OS? Yosemite is 10.10. El Capitan, 10.11 coming soon. Lion was 10.7
Old computer still going strong and does just about everything I want it to do--except this ;)
My favourite platform for computer chess so far is my much newer Android tablet...

Mine is an early 2011 Macbook Pro. Still going very strong . Using Yosemite

I am very much looking forward to the new software...I hope it allows for improved Handoff ability between devices...

You can build stockfish by yourself - it is open sourced
Actually, it is easy enough to get the Mac binary free too. And it is already part of chessx. I am figuring out how to use chessx just as a play against the computer thing (run it in Auto Respond, and hide the Analysis window to avoid peeking), but the engine runs at full strength, even at move times of only a couple of seconds, and even on my old slow Mac :)
As for sticking with Lion, I have to admit that I do because new Mac OSes "break" certain features, not related to chess, that I still need.

Mine is a 2007 black MacBook. I have over the years replaced the MB and LCD panel, and I think it has been worth it. RAM maxed out at 6GB and I swap in a new HD every couple of years. But, yes, I am due for a new one...
