Carlsen. The same logic can be applied to any sport/profession. People get better, not worse (world records only go in one direction, after all).
An interesting question arises when you ask what would happen if you transport Carlsen back and gave them both the same conditions, or if you brought Fischer to the future and gave the same conditions. But such questions are just speculation; who knows, somebody not even world class back in the 1970s might dominate todays game and vise versa.
Carlsen. No contest. Ok, maybe some contest. Still, Carlsen would win.

How about Anand vs Fischer, still engines at Anand's time not quite advanced as now though
CARLSEN AS THE WORLD POPULATION GROWS THERE ARE MORE AND MORE TOP PLAYERS.
THE BEST OF THESE ----VERY STRONG.
The organizer would win.
I wonder if that guy who put the match together between Fischer and Spassky in 1992 made any money from it?

Fischer in his Prime (age 29) is the greatest of all time.

if fischer lived in the same time as Carlsen - Fischer. His will to win was unmatched.

magnus is better than him in almost everything. he is faster, more accurate, better endgame player, just as good middlegame player, and is versatile, and a better defender. fischer is probably a better opening player, and a better attacker tho.
