One, this was a rapid game, so it did not take 8+ hours. Two, this is a tournament with massive cash prizes that in a tour he, in a very cool business move, organized on Chess24 with his Play Magnus Group. (No mods, Chess.com is better, don't lock this topic I was just stating a fact) So cash is on the line, as well as pride. Not to mention, Daniel himself mentioned it was a difficult draw, something I don't think you know the concept of, meaning that it was a matter of at some points finding ONE move for Artemiev. Magnus knew Artemiev would have a hard time, so he didn't offer a draw and it paid off.

It's just a miscalculation by Artemiev.
He looked ahead a few moves, and saw this position:
Then he stopped calculating there, as it looks, visually, as if both colors queen at the same time. No need to calculate any further.
He just missed that the very next move was mate. 
He would've needed to calculate farther in this line, see that it ended in mate, then discount the whole line and begin calculating again, starting with a different first move ...

that statement is any game where people are competitive and have the motivation to win and as most average people would agree the game of chess is just war. if you want a lazy fight for it but if you want to win keep on fighting cause the only person you can prove wrong is your opponent and you have to show that. if you cant prove anything and save the position, what right doesnt magnus have to keep on fighting? thats just being hypocritical of you
