"Magnus LOSES and Then Accuses!?!?!?"

I'd like to know why it that the esteemed Norwegian Jarl, Sir Magness Carl, gets away accusing (or hinting at) his opponents of cheating, each time he's destroyed by his colleagues. Both Niemann and Suleymenov were proven innocent in their respective tournaments, and yet hardly anyone even dares criticize him. We have heard some insignificant muffled groans of protest, but no action taken. Were he some random dude like myself, it'd be alright. But being that he's a 5 time champ, widely considered the #1 in the world even on the all time list, his words carry serious weight, and there must be consequences. If he so much as hints to an innocent opponent cheating next time he loses a tournament game, he had better be banned. The concern for cheating is real, and Fide should indeed listen to all the measures he proposes. But if he was really so befuddled by Alisher's watch, he should have just pulled a Bobby Fischer, instead of losing and then inadvertently blemishing a young player's name. (Ten years down the line this poor chap will probably still be known as the guy that wore the watch against Magnus.)

Or as the great American GM Hikaru Nakamura put it: “Someone doesn’t get to say these things without actual proof. They don’t get to falsely accuse people over and over again without having to pay a price.”

P.S. If anyone has a comment to make, they had better speak with sense. I've no interest in mindless chit-chat with any rabble-rousing whippersnappers.

He didn’t accuse Suleymenov. In fact he said he played well. He did ask why Suleymenov was allowed to wear a watch when the rules clearly say he shouldn’t.

The title you're referencing was complete clickbait. Magnus hasn't accused people of cheating over and over again by the way, and he criticized the arbiters for violating the rules by letting Sulymenov wear an analog watch even though all watches are disallowed.

OK, so he didn't actually accuse him, and later even admitted that he played well. However, when a man of Magnus' status says that he literally couldn't concentrate on the game because of his suspicions the guy may be cheating, in the eyes of fans it still casts a shadow over the game, and perhaps even over the guys' career. In the future, if he truly can't concentrate because of a suspicion, he simply shouldn't play, instead of losing and then excusing himself that he was concerned.

Not what he said. He clearly stated Sulymenov didn't cheat, but that the notion of the rulebook being forgotten about and the watch being allowed as well as how that was one example of how anticheat wasn't being handled properly.

"Honestly, as soon as I saw my opponent was wearing a watch early in the game, I lost my ability to concentrate.”

So? I was responding to your statement that Magnus was accusing Sulymenov of cheating.

I don't think you read my answer because I started off by admitting that he didn't actually accuse him.

You seriously need to do your study on the incident, he gave his professional opinion. In critical positions of the game, Magnus saw that his opponent wasn't noticing the importance of the right move in positions, you seem to have many biases, especially with the name of yours.

You mention the following: "But being that he's a 5 time champ, widely considered the #1 in the world even on the all time list, his words carry serious weight, and there must be consequences. So yes, he's basically the best player in multiple modes, and has a reputation, why would he blemish Hans play by calling it cheat, if he wasn't sure, he wouldn't state an opinion like that if he wasn't sure, so I don't know why you are starting drama over it, and calling Hans "innocent", there have obviously been stated facts in analytics (not singlehandedly from that game) that divert from the status of innocence.

If we all start playing naked and having our bums checked by our opponents this can all be avoided

MR Vegan_cheemsburger9000 You are aware this would arise new problems like indecent exposher. chess matches would now be 18+ and we cant have this. I am sure mister Magnus Carlsen would not like to have his cheeks checked every time he wants to play a game.

How do you know? We should ask him first.

That is very compelling but we may not have another option. We should ask him again, maybe he changed his mind shock

Ok i recalled him and he said he would be fine doing it only if everyone got to wear a cute tutu that said daddy's boy and the one who checked was david goggins but other then that he likes his privacy so i dont think this would ever work
