Guys, I think I found it here ( http://www.gambitchess.com/progr.htm ) but  I can't open it in windows 7. Any idea what to do?

Well, the three Chess Genius programs at that link have to be run in a DOS environment - Either straight DOS or a DOS emulator like DosBox. A convenient free front end for DosBox (with DosBox also included in the package) is here:

http://dfendreloaded.sourceforge.net/

The Windows versions of Chess Genius start with Version 4 and go up to the current Version 7.2. However, only the current Version 7.2 is available for purchase, and all of these Windows versions only run in 32-bit Windows. (That is, if your Windows version is 64-bit, Chess Genius won't run.)

I did quite a bit of looking trying to find some good screenshots of the Windows versions, and the only ones I found were the two tiny screenshots on the Chess Genius web site (near the bottom of the page):

I can't resist just one more longshot: A German program, Mephisto Meisterschach. I don't have a clue where you'd find a copy, though.

This German link of out-of-production programs lists several Mephisto programs; Mephisto Chess Challenger, Mephisto Gideon, Mephisto Meisterschach, and Mephisto Shredder. (It doesn't show any screenshots, though.)

Here's a screenshot of Mephisto Shredder:

Was Mephisto so dear to you? Looks like you're finding your lost friend.

EscherehcsE. thanks for the effort. I installed DOSbox, now the question is hot to start a Mephisto...

I'm not sure anymore...maybe it was a DOS program but it had more advanced graphic than those above...

Or maybe this one that I found is not the one I played...

Maybe you downloaded a gui powered with the Mephisto engine.

Oh boy, I was hoping that you could figure it out on your own... Smile

I'll try to give you the short version of the steps.

1) I'll assume you installed the D-Fend Reloaded 1.4.2 setup file, and you want to install the Chess Genius 3 program.

2) Start up D-Fend Reloaded, then click on the "Extras" menu, then "Open games folder...".

3) Within the VirtualHD folder, create a new folder for your Chess Genius files. Name it something like "Chess Genius 3".

4) Unzip the contents of the cg3dos.zip file that you downloaded and put those files inside the "Chess Genius 3" folder.

Now there are several ways to install the program into D-Fend, and you can tweak a lot of settings, but I'll just describe the simple and fast way to get it working.

5) In D-Fend, click on the "Add" menu, then "Add with wizard...".

6) A "Create new profile" box should appear. Click on the "Next" button.

7) Click on the little folder button just to the right of the window for "Program to be started". Now go into the "Chess Genius 3" folder and click on the "cg3dos.exe" file, then click on the "Open" button at the bottom of the window.

8) Click on the "Next" button at the bottom of the "Create new profile" window.

9) Click on the "Use default wizard template" option. (If you don't want the program to start in fullscreen mode, then uncheck the box for "Start in fullscreen mode".) Now, again click on the "Next" button at the bottom of the "Create new profile" window.

10) Now, in the box for "Name for the program / game", give the game a name of your choice, like "Chess Genius 3". Click on the "Ok" button at the bottom of the "Create new profile" window.

11) Now the game profile for "Chess Genius 3" should be listed in D-Fend Reloaded, and simply double-clicking on the profile name should start the Chess Genius program.

Blah, it's just too complicated.Laughing
