Millennium Chess Computer -- Has anyone used this electronic chess board before?

Hi, I want to get a 3d chess set to aid my OTB training rather than playing online. During my research I came across this electronic chess set:

https://www.chesshouse.com/collections/electronic-chess/products/millennium-chess-computer-chess-genius-exclusive?sscid=a1k3_4b4i9

Seems very well made and the web site has many positive reviews.

Has anyone had any experience using this set?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for posting this. Unfortunately, I can't help you; however, by looking at the link I saw a version of this that is a little less expensive and can play Chess 960. I have saved the link for review in more detail later.

Good luck with your search and thanks again.

It is pricey! Which is why I'm asking here whether anyone has used it to see if it's worth the money

It depends in a person's needs if they would buy Millenium Chess or a DGT board. Clearly if someone wants to drop $700 or more on a chess computer, they can decide where to spent it.

I would gladly get the Millenium chess computer over the DGT, but because I have zero place in my computer room to put a DGT board.

As far as quality, the company that makes the Millenium chess computer has been making high end chess computers since the 80's, and I would consider them to be the best chess computer company out there.

DGT has a pricey option to use a chess clock to take the place of a computer. It's called the DGR PI Digital Chess Clock.

I suspect the Millenial Chess Computer would be better at setting up levels for lower level players.

I found a video that convinces me at least not to buy it. You might want to check out this video.

Why is that? From the video I don't think there was much negative comments about the millennium board.

All good points. What about "Square Off"?

I think for the price of Millennium, Square Off seems a better option. I don't have to make a move for the opponent, instead the pieces just move themselves! Also, Square Off now is integrated with Chess.com.

Oh, and number 5.....

Chess.com "may" have DGT support soon. Will the Millenium be able to be used with chess.com?

Chess.com may have DGT support someday, but don't hold your breath. The programmers have said it's very difficult to implement. They do want to add it eventually though. Adding it conventually as an extra layer of coding isn't an option due to number bugs that would crop up with every minor update or patch to the main coding for the chess.com program at the server level.

I created a post on the Site Feedback forum requesting Chess.com create a protocol for the ChessLink to allow Millenium Exclusive and Millenium King Performance boards to play OTB with Chess.com.  If you'd like to add your voices of support, here's the link:

Chess.com supports the DGT Board :-)

Well... Chess.com is currently working on their DGT support.  It isn't perfect.  It would be ideal if they supported both DGT and Millenium, as each has a different style of play (DGT requires the computer screen to play, whereas the Millenium board does not, using the LEDs to display opponent moves).

It's not too hard to add text-to-speech so that you don't need a computer screen to play on the DGT.

It's not hard, but it can be expensive.  After all, using the DGT Pi requires an additional $300 investment and then a BT speaker ($40-60).  After spending around $700-1000 for their DGT board, that's pretty pricey.

The Millenium Chess Genius Exclusive is around $500-600 plus $100-130 for the ChessLink, and you can be online in minutes.  With the King Performance, the board is around $350-400, plus the ChessLink (again $100-130).  You can get one ChessLink and share it between the Chess Genius Exclusive and King Performance if you own them both.  It is significantly cheaper than the DGT option.

Check out certabo boards. I have one and it works flawlessly + exceptional quality. Top notch customer support also.

I was unlucky enough to choose to buy Millennium Supreme Tournament 55 board and ChessLink module (paying almost 1k euros). The board is buggy when I play on Lichess using Millennium official app, it stops highlighting opponent moves in the middle of the game very often, only restarting the app helps. But worst of all is that support is non existent, when I described the problem to them they asked to send them the proof of purchase, and when I did they just said that I should contact the seller. They literally ignored all my further questions. I was unlucky enough to choose to buy Millennium Supreme Tournament 55 board and ChessLink module (paying almost 1k euros). I’d just loose time and money by sending the board from UK back to Germany (I bought the board at https://www.niggemann.com/). If Millennium support just told me that they don’t believe that it’s a software bug and not a faulty ChessLink, I’d consider sending the board back for repair, but they don’t care to do even that simple thing, like I said they are just ignore my questions. I’ll never buy anything made by Millennium again, and it seems they don’t care.

I thought Lichess now offers eBoard compatibility directly from their app?  Like Chess.com does - has to be an Android device.

I purchased the Millennium Supreme Tournament 55 in January directly from the company in Germany. Within 2 months one of pieces was no longer recognized by the board and I waited nearly 2 weeks for a replacement. Yesterday another piece also stopped working. I emailed the company yesterday and have had no response! Wow. What an expensive disappointment.
