I came up with that one also. In the UK it was sold as the Milton Bradley Phantom. In the US it's called the Grandmaster.

I used the link of 'Mr. OfEmptyMen' and already bought the offered machine on Ebay! I had been looking on Ebay already for some time, but appearantly missed this one! I am a very happy man now (as a child can be).

I will post a chess problem I created myself. I will post it later as my childeren are  begging for my attention at the moment. By the way, the chess robot is to astonish my childeren and encourage them to play chess with it.

What a cool looking machine (link from #3 above). I once owned one of the first "chess computers" with board and pieces in the late 70's. Likely very weak by today's standards but I sure wish I still had it. I don't even know what it was called, and I've trying finding it on the internet.

I haven't found what I'm looking for as I need the game repaired.

I have a super rare Milton Bradley 1983 uk Phantom Chess computer thats in full working order with only the protective plastic lid that is cracked and broken. This is a super rare item to find and im considering selling for the right price, which will be a fairly big price tag .... i have made a video today of it fully working playing chess against it and happy to share with any serious buyers. There are none for sale in uk and i have not seen a full working one for sale for last ten years.

Well if I can get someone to look at mine to sort out a gremlin then mine will be better as it's in perfect appearance, still have the box it came in when new and no scratches. Looks like my price will be bigger than yours and I might share it on youtube too......what a joke!  get over yourself PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
