@GWTR
The Dark Horse is a very riveting movie. Thanks again.
You're welcome. And glad to hear you liked it!
I remember one of the Harry Potter movies had the kids playing chess as one of the tests/challenges they must pass in order to get to somewhere. Unfortunately, I didn't know enough about chess back then to know what was going on.
Pawn Sacrifice is the only one I have seen till now.
It is about the journey of GM Bobby Fischer during the era of cold war.
The best movie I have seen was the Documentary "The Great Chess Movie".
Thanks for the link, Keith. It's not a great copy, but since I've never seen this documentary before that doesn't concern me right now. I didn't know there was a documentary on the Statham sponsored Lone Pine tournaments of the 1970s; now I do.
Searching for Bobby Fischer, although the game analysis in that endgame sucked. That position was a theoretical draw:
The REAL endgame can be found on youtube:

Josh himself does the analysis

Thanks, old97 and GWTR for this. Looks very interesting so far. Was even able to grab a screen shot of Karpov shooting pool.
Also, thanks Vechtschaak for the tip on The Dark Horse. GWTR's review, "very riveting" is very applicable.

That was a great read. Thank you!
if they reshot that last scene and put a more complicated chess position. .you would recommend it? lol
Searching for Bobby was a bad movie before the final scene, and then it got stupid. Not worthy of being considered a "chess movie".
I liked parts of the movie, bit it seemed to me to be disrespectful to chess (as a competitive activity) to introduce the draw-offer idea.
