My top ten list of total jerks in baseball

Sort:
The_Pyropractor

#1:  Jimmy Rollins, Phillies.  With his foul mouth, showboat behavior, and sloppy appearance, he easily takes the #1 spot.

#2:  Carlos Pena, Rays.  A showboating, poor sport that has no class, Pena almost has claims to the #1 spot.

#3:  Carlos Ruiz, Phillies.  A quieter man, he does not get on my nerves as much, but is mucho annoying.

#4:  Josh Hamilton, Rangers.  This guy is what a player should not be. Other than his skills, this jerk really gets on my nerves. His behavior after his home run in game 4 of the world series this year really earned him this spot.

#5:  Ryan Howard, Phillies.  Ryan is a total JERK!! He is a extremely poor sport after striking out, and after attempting to steal a ball from a little girl a year ago, I have lost all respect for him.

#6:  Josh Beckett, Red Sox.  This guy is quiet, but has a really foul mouth, so I have lost respect. Seems to be a pretty good sport, but has temper issues.

#7:  Carlos Delgado, Formerly of the METS.  JERK!! Do I have to say more?

#8:  Roy Halladay, Phillies.  This man has talent, to be sure, but sloppy beard, uniform, and poor sportsmanship really tick me off.

#9:  Manny Ramirez, Dodgers.  After taking female steroids and growing that stupid hair, he makes the top ten. He is a poor sport as well...

#10:  Pedro Martinez, formerly of Phillies. Pedro has racked up credits over the years, and now it pays off. Pedro was just a bad egg, and was highly overrated..

     Any suggestions?

Pretty good list, however, as much as this guy annoyed me last year (Carlos Ruiz), is too high, while manny is WAY too low. Delgado shouldn't be in the list, I'd throw in maybe Lester or K-Rod.

Very interesting.

Among the biggest Jerks in baseball, can we include the Yankee fans who spit on/throw beer at the fans of other teams?  Spoiled rich kid bullies.

Could you please name a yankee (besides choke-rod) who annoys you? Is is Jeter, Gardner, Teixeira, Granderson? At least yankee fans don't wave some stupid hankies to cheer for their team. At least cheering for your team is safe in Yankee Stadium unlike a place like Fenway Park. Ah yes, I heard there was a riot in San Francisco after the Giants won, did you see that in NY after the Yankees won?

The_Pyropractor

this post was NOT intended to start fights. this was my personal opinion. I know many yankee fans personally, and they are not as stated. why are fans called fans? look it up in the dictionary... FANATIC!! if you don't know the meaning, look it up, because it includes ALL FANS, not just yankee fans or vv.

I agree with Relentless95, I don't see anything wrong with the Yankees They are definitely NOTHING like the red Sox with their stupid long hair and also the red sox get really mad about one pitch like outside the plate and sometimes their stupid coach gets out of the game because of that unecessary pitch to be annoyed about. The Yankees also don't throw their little hankies like the other teams, for instance, the philies. I don't see anything wrong with Yankees, just see for yourself Sonyacruz.

That's because nobody cares when the Yankees win.

The_Pyropractor

haha, I liked the riot!!

Back then they didn't care about the yankees winning the world series because it was so obvious that they were going to win. Very understanding! lol

Actually, we Yankee fans are spoiled in a good way, when we win, it's nothing new, so we don't go nuts like everyone else does. And yes, nobody cares when the Yankees win, because most people who aren't yankee fans are "Yankee haters." Jealous because their teams didn't have the type of success the yanks had starting with the early years. The Yanks represent baseball, and deserve some respect for that, not hate, they're the only team that has the guts to spend a lot of money.

The_Pyropractor

Haha, good analogy Relentless95!!!

ivandh

What was the definition of fan again? A fanatic, someone who cares deeply. I respect that- not a team that buys out all the talent regardless of how tainted their new players may be... to each their own though, NY is after all the money capital of the world, so I guess you have a differnet mentality. Oh wait you're from NJ, not sure what your excuse is then!

The_Pyropractor

actually, London is ivandh...

Research11

One of my worst baseball players are Kevin Youkilis on the the Boston Red sox.

ivandh

Red Sox will agree with you on that.

London is what Research?

Actually, there are also a lot of people from New Jersey people who are Philadelphia supporters (Just thought I'd mention it). I hear a lot of people tell me that the Yankees are so successful because they are New York and own all of the money (they also say that was the case in the early part of the century). If so, how come the New York Giants never had much success? How come the Mets are having a losing franchise? How many World Series did the Brooklyn Dodgers win?

ivandh

Lol, cause they are different teams that are under different management which manages differently.

In football, teams have salary caps.  so every team can be competitive.   The NYY payroll of $230m compares to the #2 team, Boston, at $140m.  NYY is way off teh normal distribution.  no other team in american sports compares.
