ENTP and INTJ would be best at chess in my opinion because both have inuitive functions at the top of their functional stacks, hence seeing the bigger picture better than other types, whilst also having a thinking function second on their functional stacks, giving them a rational mindest to each problem. ENTJ and INTP as well as ENFP and INFJ would also be quite good, but not as much as the first two, I would imagine. I am an INTP and MBTI types are more than a mixture of just 4 dichotomies. You must look at the functions to truly understand MBTI.
Myers-Briggs Types and Chess

Well said krazy21. As an INTJ, and having been a programmer/analyst now cataloging librarian, you describe the levels of functions well.

I don't believe there's any logic in classifying all personalities into sixteen types. Doesn't make sense to me. I don't think everyone is necessarily either clearly introverted or clearly extroverted, or some of these other things.

I'm inclined to think there is rather too much logic in it!

The best of the world was probably ENTJ

The theory doesn't claim any person is 100% introvert or extrovert. The 16 types are a lot like musical key signatures; just because there are 15 major keys doesn't mean there are only 15 different songs in major, there are unlimited possibilities for how a song in, let's say in C major, will sound. The song is influenced by all sorts of things, like the time it was written, the culture, the genre etc. Similarly, people are influenced by the times in which they were born, their culture, their class etc. With that said, songs in C major are usually built on a predictable structure. Personality type works in the same way, its simply the recognition that our personalities are built on these fundamental structures, these 16 different types of brain wiring.
I'm an ENFP any other NF chess players out there? I realize this is an NT past time.
