Yes, thanks...
Name of pawns. Harry needs to go....

FIDE suggests these names for the files when telling moves to a blind opponent: Anna, Bella, Cesar, David, Eva, Felix, Gustav, Hector.

In one of his videos Simon says, just before pushing up the H-pawn towards certain death, something to the effect of "I love Harry! Well, it's actually more of a love-hate relationship; I love sacrificing Harry!"

How about a list of ghetto names for the pawns ?
Ali, Bubbles, Cracka, Dirtz, E-Bag, Fool, Gangsta, Hooka'

I like naming all the pieces. Every piece on the queen side is a female; every piece on the king side is a male. This helps me talk through move sequences, because specific names are easier to remember than single letters (to me anyway).
Pawns by file: Amy, Betsy, Carey, Daphny, Emory, Findley, Gary, Harry.
Bishops: Bula and Barnabus.
Nights: Nikki and Nick.
Rooks: Rita and Robert.
Queen: Quinn.
King: Kirk (Star Trek anyone?).

You should use hydrogen, boron, carbon, and fluorine since they have one letter atomic symbols.

It's interesting but FIDE rules have a clause for the disabled person and there are legal names:
To make the announcement as clear as possible, the use of the following names is suggested instead of the corresponding letters:
A - Anna
B - Bella
C - Cesar
D - David
E - Eva
F - Felix
G - Gustav
H - Hector

Can't really have 'Arry and Harry.
I suspect the "a" pawn is really Albert.
Also there is a lack of ladies. So the "d" pawn is now Doreen and the "e" pawn Edna.
Albert, Barry, Cedric, Doreen, Edna, Freddie, Gary and Harry.
Harry remains the universal favourite.
Actually the name is Arry.
Arry, Barry, Charlie, Derek, Eddie, Freddie, Garry, and of course... HARRY!!!

Not only do they have names, they have jobs!

...or elements if the periodic table:
Argon,Boron,Carbon,Dysprosium,Erbium,Fluoride (boo),Gallium and Hydrogen.
The element is not fluoride it's Fluorine but that would be some good names!
