Benju13, I can guess the meanings of most of those, but tell me, what is a "four-eyed queen?"

What would I name my pieces to help in my "evaluation over the board situation"? The suicidal knight. The blind queen. The amazing resigning king. The flying board. Laughing

How's about the penisless Bishop?

here in the  east,a penislessbishop  an eunuch,a castrated individual who serves  the king  harem, we could  associate  the  word for service  to the king and useless bishopsince it is not  use  actively for  offense or shall we  say  a   harmless officerover the board evaluations.really it helps identifying them  in  analysis  of  positions.

What is this discussion about? The only thing you need to do is pretend your are the leader and pretend it is life or death decisions withg each move, some may sacrifice themselves for the good of the kingdom, it will help you makes good decisions, but come on.... 4 eyed queen? Sounds like a twilight zone chess game.

Actually naming pieces relative to their positional advantage or disadvantage is a valuable coaching technique. Your thread is a friendly reminder to use it more often to help students remember.

MarkGroverPowers

good luck, on thinking about something....i guess.

clms_chess

Mark... Im a middle school chess coach and many of the students I coach at the start have never even touched a chess piece... let alone play chess. Any coaching techniques like those mentioned above really do help.

btw... if the avatar is you, congrats... took a lot of sweat and time to look like that. You look like Frank Zane.
