names of chess titles?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chess_title
But the international ones are:
CM - Candidate master
FM - FIDE master (A bit redundant because these are all FIDE titles)
IM - International master (A bit redundant because these are all international titles)
GM - Grandmaster
On chess.com you might see NM which is for national master, and is (as the name suggests) not an international title. I believe chess.com only recognizes the national master title from the United States, so the NMs you see here are USCF NMs.

GM = Grandmaster CM = Canadidate Master FM = Fide Master NM = National Master IM = International Master --- WGM = Women's Grandmaster WCM = Women's Canadidate Master WFM = Women's Fide Master WIM = Women's International Master WNM =Women's National Master

After meeting the requirements you send a fee to FIDE and you get the title.
If you want your title to show up on chess.com, then you e.g. send them a photo of your government issued ID card and a picture of you holding up a hand written note that says something like "this is really me." Then they can type your name into google, find your FIDE card, and see that you have a FIDE title and they'll add it to your account.

- Because FIDE is run by corrupt idiots (or at last it was in the past, first prez. election in decades is coming up in about a month).
- There are no direct benefits, although I suppose if you're trying to earn a living coaching or writing books it definitely helps.
- Often your federation will pay the fee for you. IIRC it's not much. It's like a processing fee.
