Go here and from the country menu select "International".
I like globes too, I do not like flags.
It's easier with flags to know where players are in the world. No good waiting for a response in the morning here in UK from someone in USA because they're all asleep. Jordan. Madagascar etc they might be able to give you a game. I like flags.
Many people on here misrepresent themselves with flags from countries they do not reside in so they are worthless half the time anyway.
A globe reminds us that we are all friends here on spaceship Mother Earth and should try and get along and love one another, not squabble over imaginary boundaries.
I do not like flags.
Thank you, NealPage! As you can see, I have made the change. I like globes too, although I certainly do understand the point made by dadx. I am a citizen of one country, living in another, so I do have a good reason for wanting to be "international".
Social realities are not imaginary. :(
Yay flags! I like the feeling of playing people from all over the world and learning what their flags look like.
I would change my icon to "International" if we would use this Earth flag.
every flag is special in its own right. i personally miss the ulster flag though. can we start a discussion about the ulster flag please? i have flags in my eyes.
"Social realities" are nothing more then a shared hallucination. We all agree that this is how things are, and that is how things are, a self fulfilling prophecy. We must stop fetishcizing these cloth idols and break the loop of insanity. Flags only practical purpose was to keep troops from slaughtering friendlies on a medieval battle field. It's time to evolve. They divide us more than bring us together. Do not pledge allegiance. I still do not like flags.
liking flags can be seperate from liking borders or slaughters or "social realities". plus it's funny when you pretend to be thoughtful and intelligent when really you're just poopy pants.
what a beauty.
Ok, let's just stop hallucinating that we live in countries and that money has value and that we aren't just globs of molecules, just because, like, whatever, man.
Speaking of flags, why is that I never see flags from nations in the Orient? I've never played against a Japanese, or Chinese or Korean member, that I can recall. Are there any players from those regions on this site?

Hello, Ivan. How are things in South Georgia? It's great to see you representing your country here on chess.com. In fact, I think you might be the only person from South Georgia I've talked with on the internet, ever! Amazing!
Is it only premium members who can change their national flags to the international globe option?
