Nepo - it's just embarrassing for the game now.

Sorry guys, yes he's human and we all make mistakes blah blah but these blunders at a World Championship event are unforgivable.  It's not even dramatic, it's just pathetic. Maybe he can play the Bongcloud opening tomorrow.

World champion Vishy Anand made a blunder between him and challenger Carlsen in WCC 2013 match. Coincidentally, it was also in game 9.
GamboldV

I don't think Vishy blundered away a piece.  This is coffee-house chess after too much whiskey in the coffee.

I would not even expect that blunder from a 1500 player in live chess. It's almost as bad as letting your bishop get trapped in b4-a4-a5 giuoco piano lines.

@ themaskedbishop Vishy blundered the whole game by allowing Carlsen to have 2 queens.

It is true.

I agree. Your GM's rating is 2800... You have so much time on the clock... and you made so silly blunder.

Poor Nepo.

It seems that Magnus mocked on him ... right after game... and during press-conference.

Pulpofeira

Seriously?

Anand once lost a game in six moves.

It's consolating me a little. . . that even Grand Masters make blunders as I do constantly . )

Anand blundered against Carlsen in 2013 because he was calculating a line that was 7 moves ahead ... and missed a sequence that was merely 2 moves ahead.

Sometimes, you might look so far ahead that you forget to look at what's immediately in front of you ...

Uhu... Me too.. .  Usually I calculate 15 moves ahead... and miss one move check-mate.

Magnus is dogggggggging on nepo. It’s not even funny

Whether its funny or not, its pretty common for big egos.

And yes, Magnus is thinking about those things.

For example, elo points....hes not even thinking about Nepo.

He doesnt have any human competition in his mind.

Nepo thinks the same way....same childhood prodigy.

In the end, Carlsen is also in the zoo.

There is no consolation in seeing "hey, they are just like us." I don't watch world championship chess to see patzer play.  I don't want to see it in football or baseball either.  This is our premiere event and we wait years for it - it's not supposed to end in joke games.  And it's not just this game, or last games b5.  Last games's Kf8 was pretty terrible too.  Maybe we need a better system to produce contenders.

People wanted decisive results, got them, and now complaining about them.

GamboldV

Yeah, we want decisive results, but we'd like there to be a GAME.

Reminds me of when Fischer blundered his bishop against Spassky on their first game in 1972…..of course Fischer totally redeemed himself by winning the tournament.
StormCentre3

Distasteful, disrespectful thread ragging on the challenger in such a manner. The OP thinks he’s better than us, above being human and making mistakes. Nepo qualified to play and performed below par. So be it. We don’t need this childish “better than thou” attitude.
Block me now - for speaking up about an attitude that is not appreciated by many players.

Exactly
Laskersnephew

In Nepo played a simul against all the people dumping on him in this thread, he would probably score 100%.  Every pipsqueak patzer with an engine is pretending to know something about chess
