I used to play in new mexico for 7 years, actually started the chess clubs in Tucumcari which sounds like they won state a year after I moved, *grr* used to be doing extremely well last I heard and Clovis which sounds to have fizzled out. Where are yall from?
Albuquerque, New Mexico... I love the chess scene here, it's great! I personally know kembro13, Soulcrates, and badchessboy. All from Albuquerque as well.
Good times, what school are yall at? I seem to remember quite a bit of competition from Eldorado and the Academy.
I went to Manzano, but that was several years ago. I graduated in '05 and now working at UNM-H as a PC Technician.
I grew up in Grants. In the 80s, I thought we had a decent chess team, but we played too few other schools to be sure. We defeated Belen, St Pius, and Bernalillo.
I lived in Albuquerque for a couple of years and there are some strong players there.
Right now, I'm in Las Cruces, trying to get my game back. I haven't met any strong players here, but I will probably go sit in on one of the university's chess club meetings.
Good times, way back in the good ole days. While I'm thinking about it isn't the Pir Maleki tournament over in Las Vegas coming up here soon? The one at that college out in the boondocks.

Back when I was in HS, I went to Rio Grande. I graduated from there in '97, then went to NM Tech for college. I'm currently working on my 2nd BS (Math, first was in Physics) and working for the NRAO here in Socorro.
I'm also planning on going up to the Pir Maleki Memorial Tournament. Hope to see some of you there.
omnipaul, i'll see ya there! i grew up in the rio grande district, but i highly doubt we would know each other lol. i hope to see ya at the pir maleki!
